Fastum Gel

2 reviews

Fastum Gel is a non-steroidal product with anti-inflammatory and analgesic action, intended for external use. The active component, ketoprofen, helps relieve pain, swelling, and inflammation. The gel is quickly absorbed into the skin without leaving greasy traces, while menthol, camphor, and lavender oil in the formula provide a light cooling effect and comfort during application.

The product is especially popular among people leading an active lifestyle and is used both during recovery after injuries and in chronic musculoskeletal disorders.

How to properly use Fastum Gel

The OTC-product is used for:

  • injuries without open wounds — bruises, sprains, tendon damage;
  • joint pain in arthrosis, arthritis, periarthritis;
  • muscle conditions — myalgia, fibromyositis, inflammation after physical overstrain;
  • inflammation of soft tissues accompanied by swelling;
  • rheumatic pain in spinal diseases, including osteochondrosis and radiculitis.

The gel is applied in a thin layer to the painful area, gently rubbing into the skin. It should not be used on damaged skin, open wounds, or under an airtight bandage.

How many times a day can you apply Fastum Gel

Adults are advised to apply a strip of 3–5 cm up to 5–10 cm of gel depending on the affected area, 2–3 times a day. The usual course lasts up to 10 days. If necessary, it can be extended, but only on a doctor’s recommendation.

Overdose with external use is unlikely, but exceeding the recommended dose should be avoided: this will not enhance the effect but may cause skin irritation.

Note: safety of use in children and adolescents has not been clinically confirmed, therefore Fastum Gel is not used in pediatrics.

Additional recommendations for use

Before applying the gel, it is advisable to clean the skin area, and not apply other ointments or cosmetics. After application, wash your hands thoroughly to avoid the product getting into your eyes or mucous membranes.

Fastum Gel instructions also mention that the product should not be combined with other NSAIDs, as well as with products that increase photosensitivity — the skin may become more sensitive to sunlight.

It is important to avoid direct ultraviolet exposure while using the gel: do not sunbathe or visit tanning beds for at least two weeks after completing the course.

Who should not use Fastum Gel

The product is not suitable for people allergic to ketoprofen, ibuprofen, naproxen, or other NSAIDs. It is also contraindicated in cases of:

  • eczema, dermatitis, skin wounds;
  • compromised skin integrity;
  • pregnancy and lactation;
  • individual intolerance to the components.

If rashes, itching, redness, or other symptoms occur — stop use and consult a doctor.
