Zinc oxide acts as a cleansing, absorbent, and mild astringent. Resorcinol has a keratolytic effect. Iodine serves as a local cleansing and antimicrobial agent. Methylene blue acts as a local cleansing and disinfectant. Glycerin has a combined effect—softening and simultaneously astringent—and possesses pronounced lubricating and hygroscopic properties.
