Special Instructions for Use:

1. Since the medication contains lactose, it is contraindicated in cases of congenital galactosemia, glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome, and lactase deficiency.

2. Like all sedative medications, doxylamine succinate may exacerbate the syndrome of sleep apnea (increasing the number and duration of breathing cessations). H1-antihistamines should be used with caution in elderly patients due to the risk of dizziness, which can increase the risk of falls (for example, when getting up at night), with consequences often serious for this category of patients.

3. To prevent daytime drowsiness, it should be noted that the duration of sleep after taking the medication should be at least 7 hours.

4. Alcohol consumption should be avoided while taking the medication.

5. Drowsiness or dizziness may occur upon waking up during the night after taking the medication.

6. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding:

Based on available data, doxylamine can be used during pregnancy after consulting a doctor. If the medication is used late in pregnancy, the anticholinergic and sedative properties of this molecule should be taken into account when monitoring newborns.

It is unknown whether doxylamine penetrates into breast milk, so it is not recommended to use the medication during breastfeeding.

7. Ability to affect reaction speed when operating vehicles or other mechanisms:

The medication affects psychomotor reactions, so it is advisable to refrain from operating vehicles or machinery.

Method of administration and dosage:

For oral administration. Take 15-30 minutes before bedtime.

The recommended dose is 7.5-15 mg per day (½-1 tablet per day). If necessary, the dose can be increased to 30 mg per day (2 tablets per day).

Elderly patients and patients with renal or hepatic insufficiency are advised to reduce the dose.

The duration of treatment is 2-5 days. If insomnia persists for more than 5 days, consult a doctor regarding the advisability of further medication use.

Children:

Use in children aged 15 years and older.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to doxylamine succinate or other antihistamine medications.

Closed-angle glaucoma in the patient's medical history or family history.

Urethroprostatic disorders with a risk of urinary retention.

Usage Restrictions: Lung diseases.

nteractions with Other Medications and Other Types of Interactions:

Concurrent use with atropine and atropine-like medications (imipramine antidepressants, anticholinergic antiparkinsonian agents, atropine spasmolytic drugs, disopyramide, phenothiazine neuroleptics) may lead to side effects such as urinary retention, constipation, and dry mouth.

Concurrent use with other antidepressants affecting the central nervous system (morphine derivatives: analgesics; cough suppressants and replacement therapy agents, neuroleptics; barbiturates, benzodiazepines; anxiolytics other than benzodiazepines; sedative antidepressants: amitriptyline, doxepin, mianserin, mirtazapine, trimipramine; sedative H1-antihistamines; centrally acting antihypertensive agents; others: baclofen, pizotifen, thalidomide) can potentiate central nervous system depression.

Alcohol enhances the sedative effect of doxylamine.
