Snup nasal spray is a vasoconstrictor based on xylometazoline. It reduces nasal mucosal swelling, restores free breathing, and helps improve overall well-being during a cold, flu, allergic rhinitis, or sinusitis. Although it’s often referred to as “Snup nasal drops,” it is available in spray form only.
What conditions does Snup spray treat?
Snup spray nasal is used for:
- acute viral or bacterial rhinitis (runny nose),
- allergic rhinitis,
- sinusitis (including maxillary sinus inflammation),
- eustachian tube inflammation,
- pre-examination preparation for ENT diagnostics.
The medication begins working within 5–10 minutes after application. It gradually relieves nasal congestion and allows for easier breathing. For additional relief from cold and flu symptoms, consider anti-cold herbal blends and Theraflu tea, which help address both the symptoms and the underlying causes of illness.
Can Snup be used for nasal congestion?
Yes, nasal congestion is the main indication for this spray. It constricts blood vessels in the mucosa, reducing swelling and secretions. It’s important to follow the instructions: use no more than 3 times per day and not longer than 5–7 consecutive days to avoid rebound congestion.
For strong headaches that often accompany colds, you can complement your treatment with Spasmalgon for headache.
Snup nasal spray is suitable for adults and children. The 0.05% dosage is recommended for children aged 2 to 6, while 0.1% is for adults and children over 6 years old. Pediatric consultation is required before use in children.
