For dissolution in the oral cavity, regardless of food intake:

Adults and children over 12 years old are recommended to start therapy with a dose of 10 mg once daily using Kestin® film-coated tablets, 10 mg. If insufficient effectiveness or pronounced symptoms occur, Kestin® lyophilized tablets, 20 mg, may be used at a dose of 1 tablet once daily.

The course of treatment should be determined based on the disappearance of symptoms of the condition.

Elderly patients: No dosage adjustment is required.

Patients with impaired kidney function: No dosage adjustment is required.

Patients with mild to moderate liver impairment: No dosage adjustment is required.

In severe liver dysfunction (Child-Pugh class C), the daily dose should not exceed 10 mg. Therefore, in these cases, it is recommended to use Kestin® film-coated tablets, 10 mg.

Extraction of the drug from the blister should be done with dry hands following the instructions below:

Special precautions for handling the medication:

To avoid damaging the tablets, do not push them out of the blister. Open the blister cell by carefully lifting the edge of the protective film.
Remove the protective film.
Gently press out the tablet from the cell, avoiding touching it.
Carefully place the tablet on the tongue, where it will dissolve quickly. There is no need to drink water or any other liquid, and the intake of food does not affect the action of the drug.

Use with caution:
Kestin® should be used cautiously in patients with prolonged QT interval on ECG, hypokalemia, renal insufficiency, and mild to moderate liver dysfunction (Child-Pugh class A, B).

Kestin® should be used with caution when co-administered with ketoconazole or itraconazole, and erythromycin as there may be an increased risk of QT interval prolongation on ECG.

Pregnancy and lactation:
The safety of using Kestin® in pregnant women has not been established; therefore, its use during pregnancy is not recommended.

It is not recommended for nursing mothers to take Kestin® as it is unknown whether ebastine is excreted in breast milk. If use of the drug is necessary during lactation, the decision to discontinue breastfeeding should be considered.
