Pharmacological action:

Trimedat normalizes intestinal motility and the functions of the gastrointestinal tract.

Pharmacodynamics:

Trimebutine, acting on the encephalinergic system of the intestine, regulates its peristalsis. Due to its affinity for both excitatory and inhibitory receptors, it has a stimulating effect in hypokinetic states of intestinal smooth muscle and a spasmolytic effect in hyperkinetic conditions.

The drug acts throughout the GI tract, reduces the tone of the esophageal sphincter, promotes gastric emptying and enhances intestinal peristalsis, as well as the normal response of colonic smooth muscle to food stimuli. Trimebutine restores normal physiological muscle activity in the intestine in various GI disorders associated with motility dysfunction.

Pharmacokinetics:

After oral administration, trimebutine is rapidly absorbed from the GI tract. T max in plasma 1-2 hours. Bioavailability is 4-6%. V d 88 L.

Protein binding is low about 5%. Trimebutine crosses the placental barrier in minimal amounts.

Metabolism and excretion: trimebutine is biotransformed in the liver and excreted in the urine mainly as metabolites (about 70% within the first 24 hours). T 1/2 approximately 12 hours.

Indications:

Gastrointestinal motility disorders in the following conditions:

gastroesophageal reflux disease;

dyspeptic disorders in gastroduodenal diseases (abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, vomiting);

irritable bowel syndrome (manifested by abdominal pain, cramps, intestinal spasms, flatulence, diarrhea and/or constipation);

postoperative paralytic ileus;

preparation for radiological/endoscopic GI examination;

dyspeptic disorders in children associated with GI motility dysfunction.

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug;

children under 3 years of age;

pregnancy and breastfeeding period.
